This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember getting Weekly Reader or comparable weekly news magazine when you were in elementary school? We do (third grade level teachers) and it was something we looked forward to every week! We think it's important for our students to know about what is currently happening in our world.
We teach a wonderful group of 3rd graders!
Our school is located in California and is categorized as Title One. This means that 70% or more of the students receive a free or reduced lunch. My students are fantastic and I want to provide them with the best education possible.
This project will help all three third grade classes at my school! I work with two amazing teachers and together we collaborate and plan thematic lessons to help engage our students.
My Project
By providing each student with a subscription of Weekly Reader with Science Spin, they will have another resource that allows them to keep up with current events and science topics from all around the world. These subscriptions will enhance their knowledge about true life topics. Having these magazines for our students will enhance their love of social studies and science. The students will be able to explore new topics and delve deeper into our curriculum.
Your generous donation will give our students opportunities to explore nonfiction text about real life topics.
These weekly magazines will open new doors to enhance their education and help them to develop a greater love of reading, social studies, and science.
