Hello, I teach in a preschool classroom. I have 18 students that love to learn. We sing songs, read books, play together, cook together, and enjoy learning together daily. The students in my class love to sing, play games, and read.
My students qualify for our program based on low-income or a specified special need (speech, language delay, motor delay, etc.).
Because of the needs of my class, vocabulary and language skills are at the forefront of everything that I teach. Did you know that students from lower income families can face a word gap of over 3 million words? Therefore, building their vocabulary and providing language rich activities for home are key to their success.
It is my job, as their teacher, to bridge that gap and get them to where they need to be, so that they will succeed. I would love to have your help, and together, we can ensure success!
Thank you!
With the funding of this project, my students will have weekly flyers to take home to share with their families. Each flyer contains important vocabulary words for building children's vocabulary, concepts taught at school, a math skills activity, and bright colorful artwork to keep kids excited about learning.
My students are learning new concepts and vocabulary words daily.
They are like sponges that soak up new information. If we extend the learning concepts and vocabulary to home, they will hold in what they have learned and begin to use what they have learned in their everyday life, which is the ultimate goal.
With the use of the weekly flyers at home, the students will have a better opportunity for review and retention of new concepts and vocabulary learned at school. Plus, it gets parents involved and excited about their children's education too.
