My Students

I adore my students and the fact that 23 different languages are spoken at my school, which makes my community diverse and full of energy! Every day presents challenges and rewards that stretch beyond my imagination. My classroom is a dynamic, engaging, and fun environment where my students and I work together to make reading and writing come alive.

We rely on a multi-sensory approach to learning and incorporate many disciplines of study piquing the interests of all students.

In that way, we ensure a safe and respectful classroom space.

My Project

Coming in after a year (or longer!) at home, my students were not prepared to sit at a desk for long periods of time. They're constantly fidgeting and constantly moving which makes paying attention a difficult task. I've created some flexible seating in my classroom to help them concentrate, but my makeshift wiggle seats aren't cutting it. My kids need proper seating designed to help them get their wiggles out but still allow them to learn.

I fondly call my students "my little Weebles" as they are constantly rocking back and forth in their seats.

New and proper flexible seating will allow them to move, rock, wiggle and wobble in any way they need to help them stay focused. The seats will be placed in various parts of the classroom which will also get them up and moving so they're not sitting in one spot for the duration of class.
