This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students range from Pre-K to fifth grade. We are a low income, elementary school. Our kids are active and love learning. They have lost a lot because of Hurricane Harvey and I am trying to make this year special. I want them to be excited to come to school. Art can be a great way to motivate kids to do better and learn new things. It can also be used to help heal what they have lost. With new art supplies, I can help them in all areas, like math and reading. They are so appreciative of everything they receive and would really love your support.

My Project

This year my students have been through Hurricane Harvey and experienced things young students should not have to. I promised my self when school finally started that I would do my best to give them the best school year they have ever had. To do this I want to expose them to new and different textiles we don't normally have access too. With your help I will be able to give them the chance to experience the various forms of weaving and teach them the history and importance that comes with this art form. I want them to know art goes beyond crayons and paper.
