My Project
It's hard to believe but the time has come to gear back up for the '22-'23 school year. This is our 3rd year as a wholly online virtual school. We've learned a lot about what it takes to engage elementary students in online learning. This project intends to capitalize on what we've learned in the first two years of operation.
In particular, we have learned that offering some in-person events/activities and ensuring students feel connected to their teachers and peers makes a huge difference in student engagement/achievement.
We have an administrative building where the weather station will be located. It connects to the wi-fi and streams to Weather Underground online. One of our science units focuses on weather and students historically struggle with the abstract nature of it. When students visit the building, they would be able to see the weather station in action and of course they can access the data online during class too. There really is no substitute for making learning personal. Your support of this project will help us gear up and we are grateful to you.
