These books have introduced so many valuable reading skills for our students. As we move through the chapters together, students practice fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension. We explore story elements such as characters, setting, and plot, make predictions using context clues, and even connect details from the story to real-world facts about dinosaurs and history. The text provides a perfect foundation for building reading stamina, confidence, and curiosity.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has become one of the most joyful parts of our day. Each morning, students hold up their books on camera, and we read a chapter together as a class. We pause to discuss vocabulary, share thinking, and answer comprehension questions in both whole-group conversation and chat responses. Even though we are miles apart, having a shared physical book creates a strong sense of community and brings the experience to life in a way that feels special and connected.\r\n\r\nSeveral students are especially thriving with the new books. Some of our reluctant readers are now more eager to participate, proudly showing their books and engaging more during discussions. A few students who often struggle with attention have become more focused because the story draws them in. Our stronger readers are enthusiastically reading ahead and sharing discoveries with their classmates. What has been most heartwarming is seeing even our quietest students raise their hands, ask questions, and make predictions. The excitement is truly shared across the whole class.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made this experience possible, and our students are genuinely happier and more engaged because of it. Thank you for giving them a story they can hold, enjoy, and grow with.","fullyFundedDate":1755714525103,"projectUrl":"project/3rd-grade-classroom-book-build-love-of/9293115/","projectTitle":"3rd Grade Classroom Book - Build love of Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7233106_orig.png?crop=288,288,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745882688456","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7233106"},{"teacherId":2230,"projectId":9040516,"letterContent":"Over the years, I have come to realize that having the right materials in the hands of students can make a big difference. When it comes to science, there's nothing better than learning by doing and experiencing but after we've done the exploration and investigation, we have to be able to apply what we've learned. That is why I am a firm believer in these Coach books. With these books, I was able to strategically guide students in a review of the entire curriculum from the year as they prepared to take their first ever end of grade test for science. This year was a re-norming year, so we are still waiting for the scores to come out, but I am waiting with confidence. I believe my students were prepared and I believe that it will show. This means that we build community differently and encourage positive behaviors in ways that look a little different from brick and mortar settings. That makes these moments when we celebrate together in person, that much more important.
