Weather, Weather Everywhere

My students need weather books and the interactive map to increase their knowledge of weather and make their own predictions.

My Students

Will tomorrow be a snow day? This age old question will no longer be asked as my students make their own predictions using the an interactive weather map. They can post data from around the country and study the weather factors that influence where it travels. They can't wait to be meteorologists.

My 6th grade science students are full of curiosity.

They have great questions about how our world works and I hope to guide them to some answers. They have many concerns about actions that mankind does that impacts nature and what Mother Nature decides we should experience. We are part of a public school in a growing suburban town. Like many areas, our district is on a tight budget. Our district focuses on improving scores in math and reading, sometimes leaving science and technology waiting. Middle school students learn more by doing than reading, and science class is the perfect place to make discoveries.

My Project

Imagine how excited the students will be when they predict the weather correctly. They will develop predicting skills by learning from the books about specific weather factors. They will practice that knowledge playing the Bingo games and then finally they will create their own weather shows using the map with weather symbols. You will help raise their awareness of the world around them. Often their focus their immediate area. Now they will learn why we care about weather from the west coast. They will learn how to prepare for it and understand that weather brings pollution as well form other states.

Your generous donation will inspire my students. You will help them develop an environmental conscience as we explore how pollution in the air affects the quality of soil and water for the trees. They will become global citizens as they mature and know they can make a difference to save our planet. They will thankfully know that your generosity sparked their discoveries.
