My Project

Creating wearable art is a wonderful way for students to take their art off of paper and canvas and create art that they can wear everyday, showing off what they have created and building confidence in their artistic skills.

Students will use fabric pens, fabric paint, sharpies, acrylic paint pens, interfacing to add fabric, embroidery, gelli printing, and screen printing to add art to their clothing. They will also create jewelry out of shrinky dinks to wear with their clothing that they altered. I am requesting the supplies for creating the shrinky dink jewelry which include the shrinky dink film, sharpies, and toaster ovens which are needed to cook and shrink the shrinky dink film, creating hard plastic images that can be used like beads to create charm bracelets, pins, and earrings.

My students will have the opportunity to get a peek into the world of fashion. It may spark a new direction that they want to take their art or a possibility for a career they may want to pursue, or maybe it just gives them the opportunity to wear their art and have pride in something that they have created. Either way, I can't wait to see the amazing results students will produce with these quality mediums!
