My Students

Students want to be successful in life, They have different ideas about success, different levels of confidence in their own ability to become successful, and different levels of resources available to help them get to their goal. This often is not expected in Advanced Placement courses, but it is.

My AP Human Geography students are great kids.

They are kids who are looking to earn college credit while still in high school. The reading level of these students is higher than that of most students and they can learn a great deal from independent reading. While most AP students come from backgrounds that have ample financial resources some simply do not. It is a terrible thing to see a student who has the capability to learn at an advanced rate but not register for the classes because of a lack of funds to buy a couple of extra books. That is where you come into play.

My Project

Globalization is a relatively new phenomenon that has replaced the old Cold War world. This books connects the entire world in a global community of business. In "Where am I Wearing" the author takes something that we are all familiar with (clothing), and explores the issues related to international trade and manufacturing. The interviews reflected in this book demonstrate that the issues surrounding "Sweatshops" is not quite as simple as buying or not buying certain brands of clothing. This book will give my students a valuable insight to these things. We would like to do a book study on this book and would like each student to have their own copy of the this book.

There are always a few students who cannot afford to buy the additional books for AP Human Geography.

If you will buy these few books then students can borrow a copy at no cost and pursue college credit before leaving high school. Help make this happen!
