My Students

I have a wonderful group of students this year. My students come from a variety of backgrounds which allows our classroom to be a place of lots of cultural and diverse learning. Through the pandemic, these students have worked so hard on learning new platforms and technology. I am so proud of their hard and arduous work!

My students have created a community environment within our classroom due to their shared pandemic experiences.

They face very similar struggles and challenges. However, they have a growth mindset and a positive attitude. This year, more than ever, they have inspired me to look on the bright side and take things one day at a time. I want to do everything I can to help them be successful this year and beyond.

My Project

My students love working together on different topics in 6th grade. Because 6th grade is shifting to "middle school" curriculum, my students have to work to discover different math, science, and social studies concepts on their own with the help of their peers. Unfortunately, it can be hard to work together without the necessary materials to do so.

Working collaboratively is not just a school skills, it's also a life skill.

The pandemic has highlighted the importance of being able to work with a team inside and outside of a school setting. By working together, we have found solutions to many problems that come with not being face-to-face. I would love to teach my students how to work collaboratively inside and outside the classroom as well.

The materials in this project will allow me to split my class into smaller groups when working on different subjects like math and science. The traveling whiteboard will allow small group leaders to scribe ideas while the big notebooks will allow different teams to work on different topics at the same time. Then, students can come together and present their ideas with each other as they would if they were working on presentations online.
