My first grade class is comprised of 21 eager learners. They are kind, caring, and love helping others. They are each unique and very special and I go out of my way each day to remind them of that.
My first graders come from a rough area and go through more than what most kids do, but they do not let that stop them from working hard toward their goals.
They love to learn and have learned to persevere through tough times.
My Project
Learning how to read is difficult in itself. Learning to read while at home and on an iPad seems almost impossible for students. It is hard to learn to read words and stay engaged with the practice when you are only looking at words on a screen. Having letter tiles that students can move and manipulate will help to keep students engaged.
Having letter tiles and clocks that students can touch and manipulate at home will help with their understanding of reading and telling time.
Telling time is a difficult concept to learn, especially when you do not have a clock that you can move. Please help me give my students, clocks with hands that they can move.
