My Students

We are 60 fun, smart 5th graders who read, write, and learn all day. We are a Title One school in a small town, but we have a fairly diverse group of learners.

My students come to school every day, excited for what is to come.

Our school pledge is to be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn - and they are!

I love providing a diverse selection of reading material for them - fiction and nonfiction, graphic and text, all levels, all topics! Thank you for helping to support us!

My Project

In 5th grade, we learn about US History, from Reconstruction through the present day. September 11, 2001 is the biggest event in our recent history, but it is hard to teach accurately without scaring kids unnecessarily. The "I Survived" series by Lauren Tarshis teaches events using historical fiction.

A class set of these books will help us learn together!

The "I Survived" books by Lauren Tarshis teach about events using historical fiction. They are quick reads, and my students love them all! This book, in particular, will help us learn about September 11, 2001, in a high interest, historically accurate, and age appropriate format.
