My Project
My school is in a diverse Title I school in an Anchorage neighborhood. I am a special education resource teacher who has worked with third through fifth grades for the past three years. As I entered my fourth year, my caseload was fourth and fifth. However, due to the needs of students, I now shifted to Kindergarten. This is my first year teaching primary and my students' first year in elementary school. We are learning together.
The needs of my students vary in range and require differentiated materials and instruction.
My students require multi-sensory instruction as their attention span is not more than five to ten minutes per activity. I want to fill their day with engaging hands-on learning.
My students love to build, transform, and manipulate. These materials will provide my students with a variety of tasks to not only engage and keep their attention but also provide them with a strong learning foundation of letter names, letter sounds, numbers, and writing.
