My students need dry eraser markers to complete math calculations on their dry erase boards. Students will also use them in small group or individual activities.
They also need glue sticks to complete various projects.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am currently new to 3rd grade teaching both Math and Science. I have 2 groups of students. Both groups of kids are very energetic and love to learn about both Math and Science. Each group of students have a dynamic personality as a whole group. Individually, students are on tiered levels with many needs that range from lower level math skills to higher level math skills.
My students are very inquisitive and continue to keep me researching about rigorous activities to keep them engaged in both Math and Science.
Both groups have fast paced learners who stay on task and work hard to accomplish the goals set for the day.
My Project
I use various activities to keep students engaged. Students are accustomed to the paper-pencil work. I use dry erase boards to increase engagement and to allow students to work out their math calculations in a different form. However , dry eraser markers can dry out over time. When this happens students are not able to perform using the dry erase boards and markers. My students really enjoy using the dry eraser boards and markers. Using them increases engagement and participation in small groups as well as whole groups.
Student engagement helps the lesson go smoothly especially when students are having fun and enjoying themselves.
