We Want to Show the World: Starting With Our Classmates!
My students need a document camera to present their work in a professional manner that is viewable by the whole class.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In our classroom we are developing verbal and written skills to communicate in another language, Japanese. Developing their presentational skills in the classroom is one safe way for the student to practice the language and gain confidence to speak to native speakers in the real world.
Our students come from all walks of life.
We are a Title One school with over 60% of the students in the free lunch program. Each student has a different story to tell. They have come to our school from near and far to learn and grow together. The diversity of our school is what will enable our students to graduate into the real world on all levels.
My Project
Students will be able to view detailed demonstrations from afar to help bring cultural materials and lessons alive. The students themselves will also be able to present projects and explain lessons to their peers in a professional manner. This will enable the students to become confident in their presentational skills and with using the target language of Japanese as well. Once students are comfortable with pre-made presentations, they will be more confident in speaking to others in Japanese on a one on one conversational level. This negotiation of meaning is what we are striving for.
Exposure to a document camera will help the students not only learn academic lessons and materials, but it will also provide the student with a sense of belonging that they are part of this bigger world and that they are not left out.
They can be a viable member of the community and make a difference.
