Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a fifth grade teacher in a school that has an unfortunately high number of failing and frustrated students. My 64 students are working VERY hard. Unfortunately, however, they do not have the resources that they need, and their school does not have the funding to provide extra help to them. We are currently working on writing persuasively. We are learning about Martin Luther King and his fight against racism. We are reading speeches about women's suffrage. The amendments of our nation's constitution would really come alive if we could only WATCH these speeches on an actual screen instead of imagining them as they might have sounded. We do not have a TV or video player within the walls of our school. Without one, we can never watch educational videos of any kind. The use of multimedia technology would also really help my students who are English Language Learners, as visuals are their greatest tool. Please help us SEE Dr. King as he shares his dreams for America. Help us SEE Hillary Clinton fighting for women's rights and Bono fight against extreme poverty in Africa. With a TV / Video system, we will be able to not only read the words, but experience to full glory of persuasion as performed by the leaders of our great nation.
