This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a second grade bilingual teacher that also teaches a guitar/drum "little kids rock" after school program, serving students from 2nd to 5th grade.

I've been teaching guitar for two years at my school and every year more students show interest in learning how to play. People from Little kids Rock provide me (and several other school in the country)with free instruments to start with their program, but now the ten guitars they gave me are no enough for the 17 little future musicians that want to learn how rock!

With five more guitars I will be able to serve up to 17 kids in this program. giving them the opportunity to take the instrument home during the school year to practice every day.

The area in which my school is located is a low income area with very few opportunities for students to expand their horizons, specially in the field of arts. With this program more young kids will have the opportunity to experience first hand the wonderful world of music.
