This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My 1st graders love to play and be creative. They thrive in any opportunity to make something out of nothing. All of my first graders come from low income families. For many of them school is home. To help combat with the stressors these children face in their everyday lives, I want to create a playful and rigorous learning environment. This will enhance their real-world, 21st century skills and they will have authentic learning experiences to look back on. They will learn to communicate, collaborate and create with one another.
My Project
These materials will help make a difference for my students because they will be able to grow a love for books. Many of these children have limited access and exposure to high quality books. These books will encourage them to explore new genres and difficulty levels.
These books are high quality, complex and full of beautiful illustrations!
They will not be able to put these books down and will be motivated to read an entire book series. The texts that I have chosen are new, fresh, and relevant to my student's interests . I am so excited to share these books with my sweet friends!
