Have you ever struggled to read a sign, menu or book? My students struggle with learning disabilities which can make teaching them to read words a difficult task.
My students are special education students with learning disabilities in grades kindergarten through 4th grade.
Our school is small and has a high poverty level. The staff in our building think that building relationships with our students is a number one priority. They are wonderful children who need to believe that they are capable of anything if they put their minds to it! I want reading to be easier for them so that they will increase their level of confidence.
My Project
These resources will enable my students to feel smart!! They will feel as though they can read if they put forth the effort in school and they will succeed! I will be able to work on reading fluency with the lower level readers and make them feel more confidence. At this time I only have a limited amount of lower readers which many of them have already read numerous times. The books in this project will definitely make a difference.
Donations to this project will make a huge difference for my students.
I want them to love reading as much as I do, so having new easy readers instead of rereading books will entice them to read! Reading is the foundation of everything in life and I want them to have that!!
