Help me give my students a customized 2021 Inchy's Bookworm Vending Machine so they can continue building a love of reading and earning exchangeable book tokens as rewards for meeting reading goals.

Frank Serafini said, "There is no such thing as a child who hates to read; there are only children who have not found the right book." This sentiment was never more meaningful than now. I teach in a virtual academy, and my students are AMAZING. They are inquisitive, engaging, eager to learn, and always willing to express their opinion on our short story of the day. We are trying to help our future scientists, doctors, educators, attorneys, and programmers unlock their inner readers.
My students are resilient to a fault, but they deserve to have a choice of books to read and take home to call their own.
My students are engaged to the point that they look forward to reading daily, taking a stance, and defending their positions to one another, using evidence from the text. When they realized that virtual education was not a perfect fit for ALL classes, they didn't argue or complain. One of our younger students created an exercise video so her classmates would have a "real" PE class.
Currently, our students are required to use many digital resources to supplement their instruction. Teachers and students monitor their progress through successful completion of lessons and mastery of content.
Inchy will provide an additional incentive for our students to achieve their literacy goals and track their academic growth!
Once they have accomplished a learning goal through independent practice and/or demonstrated mastery on an assessment, then they will be able to earn Inchy tokens to spend in the vending machine! Students will be able to keep the books earned! We are working together with our families to not only highlight the importance of daily reading but to cultivate a community of responsible and engaged learners who develop a growth mindset toward success! The majority of our students are reluctant readers who need to practice independent reading but lack the resources.
