My Students

My classroom is filled with curious young 2nd grader that are eager to learn even during this year of covid-impacted learning. My students are currently participating in remote online learning.

When they are in the classroom they are eagerly engaged and thriving to learn.

Our school is a public charter school located in Utah. We love to do Kagan cooperative learning activities as often as we can. My students love to do STEM activities and craft projects.

I think giving them flexible seating options and clipboards will provide a social-emotional investment on them for their learning environment.

My Project

In my classroom I love to give students the ability to find a workspace that works best for them. Providing students with clipboards encourages them to move around the room and create a learning environment that works for them.

By utilizing wobble stools, as a form of flexible seating, I am hopeful it will provide workable choices in my classroom.

Alternative seating has shown to provide support for social-emotional needs in a classroom setting. Students seem to learn best when they feel that they have some control. Flexible seating provides movement and choice while increasing academic engagement.

This year has been intertwined with pandemic-impacted learning. Students in my classroom are seeking more movement and more choices. I am trying to meet their creative needs, movement needs, and basic needs.
