Help me give my students new titles in our classroom library! I have noticed that the kids are loving the Warrior series and want to make it available to my students.
Although I have students from all types of families, more than half are on Free/Reduced price lunch. Several come to school with little or no school supplies that we supplement. In addition to supplementing school supplies, I also sponsor students out of my pocket so no one feels left out.
Part of our state standards are that students can read and write texts and provide text evidence.
Engaging texts are key to their continued success.
My wish is provide my students with new titles in our class library to read and discuss with their peers.
My Project
Having high interest, engaging books that are accessible to students promotes student engagement in reading and their reading success. Having complete series of books helps to foster kids' interest and love of reading. My class has shown an interest in the Warrior series and have been passing 2 copies of one book around all year. Additionally, our Literacy Coach read an excerpt from the Gregory the Overlander series and they love to use the phrase, "fly you high" when encouraging each other.
These books will continue to enhance the literacy environment that I strive to create.
My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind and to help them to continue to develop a love of reading. Students are able to choose their own books, which helps them to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
