My Students
My students are incredible human beings with a thirst for knowledge. They come to school each day ready to learn, excited to make a contribution, and inquisitive about the world around them. Our classroom is a great community and we are always so encouraging of each other.
There is an amazing quote that I really think should be realized and contemplated more in all of our classroom settings: "Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nation.” This quote is from John F Kennedy.
I think this quote is so important because it really makes us stop and think about all of the great gifts we're lucky enough to be born with and also the goals for the future that we've set for ourselves. My class is so hopeful when they think about their futures and have a realization that a lot of hard work is required to reach our goals. Thanks for thinking about my classroom and caring about us. We appreciate all your support!
My Project
I am teaching a grade that is new to me (again). It's been a while since I've taught second grade and I've never taught a second/third combo class. While researching about great novels for this age group I came across the book "The Worst Witch" and thought it would be perfect for my class. It's a wonderful book about loving yourself, accepting yourself, standing up for what you believe in, and having fun at school. It's great when you can relate with the main character in the book and I know my students will be able to relate to Mildred.
What you learn in school sticks with you forever and I know this book is a great novel that will stick with my kids forever, while also helping them become lifelong readers and enjoying what we're learning.
Thanks for helping my classroom get a great novel set!
