it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class consists of the most curious, sweet, loving kindergartners you can imagine. Seeing their little faces as they entered school for the first day was priceless. It is clearly evident, when speaking with any of my students, that they have such a desire to learn and grow. These children come from challenging home lives with limited opportunities. They all deserve a classroom equipped with all the necessary tools to access.
I am committed to ensuring that every child who enters my classroom will be supported as they begin their educational journey to becoming life-long learners and empathetic, responsible, contributing members of the community.
My Project
As a first year teacher of Kindergarten, I am building a classroom library from scratch for my young students! The books I have selected will be read to students throughout the year. We will read these books over and over together, so students will eventually be able to practice reading them without my help and build confidence in their abilities.
Students who are just learning how to read need to experience the joy that comes from reading Mo Willems Books.
These books will do just that! They will also teach students social and emotional skills that will help them grow. The words and illustrations in Mo Willems' books provide students with rich opportunities to discover emotions and learn to read. Each one will be a wonderful addition to our classroom library!
