My Students

Year after year, I'm blessed and lucky enough to teach and spend my day with the sweetest kiddos alive! I teach in a high-poverty, low socioeconomic community in southern Mississippi. Our teachers are the best and the kiddos are just so awesome.

Each day, my students step off the bus ready and so excited to learn.

In my classroom, I try to make learning as fun as possible, but we do not always have the supplies and materials that we need to succeed.

My Project

This project is all about supporting and celebrating our cultural and individual differences!

I want my classroom to feel inclusive to all of my students!

It is my mission as a teacher to support all of my little learners. This includes our diverse population and our special needs children as well.

For this project we are asking for books that celebrate people of color as well as people with differing abilities. These books include: Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History, Mae Among the Stars, Jabari Tries, and What Happened to You?

By ensuring that our classroom library features texts with people of color and children with special needs, we will open the floor for important dialogue about inclusion and diversity.

I know my little readers will love reading stories such as What Happened to You, a story about a little boy with one leg, and Jabari Tries, a story about a little boy who never gives up and is determined to meet his goals.

I want my firsties to embrace and make connections will all kinds of people. If you believe in diversity education, please consider a donation to this book project.
