Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a great group of kids in need of love and positive enriching experiences. Unfortunately, the demographic of this area is the poorest in LA County. These students come from very low income homes, some are foster kids, and there are a lot of other sad stories of things that go on at home. Many of them have emotional issues and very low motivation for school. I have been changing all of that since I started working in this district two years ago.

I want to make school fun and introduce them to new ideas and projects.

These kids shine bright when they are cared for, and building relationships has been a priority for me as their teacher.

My Project

Art is therapeutic and it gives children the opportunity to be expressive and free. I want to give my students a chance to be creative and see that creativity comes to life with beautiful colors!

We do not have an art class, art teacher, or supplies at my school.

I would love to give them this experience! I want to tie in writing standards with this project, having them write an essay explaining their art in words. I know that this experience will be a great opportunity to see how creative they can be with these supplies. Thank you lots.
