This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"We the people of the United States in order to form a more perfect union..." Each year, my 5th grade students memorize the preamble to the Constitution.

My 5th grade students are from a low income area of Southern California.

Our title I school has almost 1000 students on campus each day and the students are in classrooms ranging from pre-school to sixth grade. Our campus is a busy place each day! My students are learning about the Constitution this year as well as the states and capitals.

My Project

I would like to give my students access to hardback books about the Constitution since it is one of the major social studies standards we learn each year in 5th grade. After each unit of study, my students are more interested in checking out books on our topic of study from our classroom library. I would like to have many hardback books on hand as well as DVDs I can show regarding our topics of study.

With limited budgets for library books for the classroom, as well as for DVDs we can show in class, I would like to acquire videos, hardback books, and flashcards for my classroom this year.
