This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students face a challenge of "do I have the supplies needed to get a good education?" They want and need something to firmly hold our overhead projector, so that they can see what is being taught whether they are in front of the room or in the back.
My students are economically challenged.
They do not have a lot. Many of the items they receive is donated to the school. They also donate to worthy causes by donating pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters for other children who may be sick. Many of the students do not get support at home with their education so the responsibility usually falls on the teachers and staff of our school. The teachers are very supportive and nurturing, but will challenge our students academically. The staff and teachers work together to enforce a safe school environment, as well as school wide rules, discipline and policies which helps provide our students with some stability in their life. And they are fortunate to attend a school that has met their API scores every year.
My Project
With the overhead projector cart holding the classroom projector, I can easily ask volunteers to come up and model to the rest of the class how they would solve a problem. Everyone would get the opportunity to share their views and learn from other people by seeing how others would solve the problem. They would learn that there is more than one way to solve a problem.
My project of obtaining an overhead cart would give students the opportunity to actually see in front of them what the teacher is talking about and say "oh, I get it now!".
"I need my students to learn through interaction with the teacher and what is being shown on the overhead through direct instruction.
