My Students

I teach 3rd grade at a K-5 public school where 500 students learn and grow. Our classroom family contains a diverse group of learners, with varying academic, social and emotional needs. All of our students are hard workers that work to achieve their goals, however; often times they don't see themselves as mathematicians. They think that they "are not good at math". They don't see themselves as problem solvers.

Help me to provide hands-on experiences for our students to learn that it is through productive struggle that we build math minds because EVERYONE IS A MATHEMATICIAN!

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them. I strive to give them experiences they might not get otherwise. We strive to provide hands-on activities that will allow them to internalize their learning and to make cross-curricular connections, particularly in the areas of STEM that will prepare them for their future.

My Project

By donating to our project you are providing materials​ that will be used in tasks to help our students to establish a growth mindset, allowing them to persevere when faced with a challenge, an essential trait that will serve them throughout their lives. These open-ended math and STEM projects are intentionally designed with a low-floor and high-ceiling so that all students can access the activity at their level and grow through their experiences within, allowing them the freedom to try different approaches without fear of failure. With the Sphero Sprk+ robot our students will be developing computational thinking skills through coding and programming. Thank you for helping our students to become deep thinkers and problem solvers!
