My Project

The students in my elementary learning support classroom are an amazing group! They come ready to learn and work hard no matter what we do in class. However, I've found that my students learn best when they are given access to hands-on materials. This is why my project requests a variety of educational games and activities for my diverse learners.

Hands-on materials, including educational games and activities, make learning more fun and engaging.

Activities like making letters/numbers out of playdoh, "feeding" a toucan, going on a pirate treasure hunt, and swatting "bugs" are certainly more fun than paper/pencil tasks or listening to your teacher talk for an entire class period! In fact, students may not even realize that they are learning because they are having so much fun doing it!

My students have also been observed to be more on-task when utilizing hands-on materials, as they incorporate multiple senses and allow for more movement while learning. Being able to see, touch, and even hear the materials keeps students more engaged and satisfies the sensory needs of many learners.

Educational games and activities are a wonderful addition to the classroom!
