This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students need to have a greater connection to the world around them. Our library is limited in multicultural books/stories that connect all children, all communities, and all countries around the world. Books such as Under; The Quilt Of Night, Nobody Gonna Turn Me 'Round, Funny Bones, Stepping Stones, and The Turtle of Oman will broaden my student's perspectives on the world around them and connect them to children, families, and communities around the world. My students love to learn about the world and other children worldwide. Suppose my students have a diverse selection of literature about all people worldwide. In that case, they will have an opportunity to build higher levels of acceptance of differences, and compassion for people who are different than their communities.
