I teach a low-income, inclusion classroom, and for many of my students, access to snacks is not a given. When the snacks arrived, students were genuinely excited, but more importantly, they immediately understood that these were something they could earn through effort, growth, and showing up to school ready to learn.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, we use these snacks as part of our PBIS system and as positive reinforcement for academic and behavioral goals. Students earn them for improving their i-Ready scores, staying focused during lessons, demonstrating respectful behavior, and sometimes simply for coming to school on a hard day. For some students, the snack is a strong motivator. For others, it's a small but meaningful support that helps them stay regulated, engaged, and ready to participate in learning.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these snacks will continue to play an important role in supporting attendance, academic growth, and a positive classroom culture. They allow me to reinforce effort in real time and meet students where they are, both academically and emotionally. Your support helps remove a real barrier to learning and reminds my students that there are people outside our classroom who care about their success.
