My Students

This year I am teaching two classes of social studies and reading to fifth graders. I have a diverse group of enthusiastic and energetic students who are eager to learn and I am hoping to create a classroom environment that supports and fosters that energy and spirit! I have an active group of students who spend a long day at school; some of them attend daycare either before or after school, or even both. I want them to stay excited about learning!

My Project

We are creating a flex-space classroom to support students in their learning of writing, reading, and social studies. Our goal is to create a space where students can remain focused when they are reading and working. Wobble seats will help them be able to move around while they are sitting in one area. A classroom couch will encourage collaboration. Bean bags will help students remain comfortable.

One of the challenges in a 1:1 classroom is ensuring that students continue to work together as a team.

By creating the proper environment, students can enhance their cooperative skills. Each of these items will help achieve that!
