My students need 7 wobble stools to allow for movement during lessons. Students who move can stay more focused and produce better quality work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are special because they have the strength to persevere through challenges many adults have not been through, in order to achieve the best education they can. This past school year my school explored how trauma effects the brain. I reflected about how the students in my class have been resilient through poverty, domestic abuse, relocation as refugees, and a variety of other experiences.
And yet, these experiences never define my students.
This past year my students explored and researched possible careers. Students learned that their opportunities are endless if they were willing to work and push themselves. All students in my classroom are expected and required to do their best, no excuses.
I do not yet know the names and stories of the students coming into my classroom this coming school year. I can guarantee they will each have a story, personality, and goals uniquely their own. My job is to support them on their journey to being well, rounded members of society.
My Project
Last year one of my grade level teammates was fortunate enough to have a flexible seating project funded and used it this past school year.
Through this, I discovered the magic of movement while working on the highly demanding standards of today's schools.
Students who used the wobble stools stayed more focused and produced better quality work. The stools were especially helpful during reading and writing lessons.
In addition, students had to use problem-solving skills to share and figure out fair ways for all to get an opportunity to use the chairs. Having these stools in my classroom would allow my students to move while completing their work.
