This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing! All of them are bilingual or are learning to be. Some of them have three languages. These kiddos are the future adults I want to be caring for the world. My students come from all over to attend our dual language Spanish/English school and their families are diverse in culture.
My students are curious about the world around them and so eager to learn.
They are a dynamic, interesting, and interested group of young people who love to learn about life.
My Project
As I look forward to the next school year and think about the students I see about to come my way, I notice a lot of kids who struggle to remain in the classroom, and who need a lot of extra support to make good behavioral decisions. Trying to be a thoughtful teacher, I have been thinking of things I can do to make my classroom a more comfortable place for kids who need to stay active.
Soft, wiggly seat cushions will make it a lot easier for some students with behavioral and sensory challenges to be more comfortable and successful in my classroom.
I'd like to start to try to meet their needs, now, so when we meet for real in the Fall, I can focus on knowing them as people.
