We Need to Read Books by Chicago Authors!

Help me give my students books by terrific Chicago authors, past and present.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Wiltse's classroom raised $512

My Project

Our school is in Kenwood, a historic south-side neighborhood in Chicago. We are reopening a long-closed library and need books by Chicago authors.

We are not far from Bronzeville, yet we have no Gwendolyn Brooks poetry in our library.

We are just blocks north of University of Chicago's famous Eve Ewing, yet we have none of her works in our library. There are so many wonderful authors living and writing in Chicago today like May, Cisneros, Venkatesh, Jackson, Sanchez, and more that our students need to experience. This list includes classics to just-published books that will help our students appreciate the literary city they are a part of. This will help them become readers and writers following in these mighty literary footsteps!
