We Need to Prepare for Battle of the Books 2006-2007

It's been quite a number of years since we won the Battle of the Books (BOB) title. We are a Pre-K--8 school with a limited selection of middle school titles in our school library. Battle of the Books is a type of knowledge bowl competition that we participate in every year against other schools the have many more resources. We don't have all the titles of the 27 books that will be tested next year in the library, and if any are already checked out, we have no duplicate copies, so we could really use help. In my classroom, we use these books as read-alouds, Literature Circles, discussions and even End-of-Grade preparation. I have a highly motivated, enthusiastic group of students who would really love to have these books again this year. I bought all of the different 27 titles last year, but simply cannot afford to do it again this year, so we would greatly appreciate the help and make great use of these materials.
