My Students

My students strive to do their best in regular education classes and come into the Special Education room for extra support. Most days they come in excited and ready to learn, but on the days they don't, we are ready to cheer them up. Each student knows they are struggling with certain concepts in mathematics, reading, or writing, but they want to learn, do well, and catch up with their same age peers.

Seeing the excitement in the students' eyes when they understand concepts they have struggled with shows their determination to succeed and they know we are there to help them in any way we can.

The majority of these students have low self-confidence and it's important that the classroom is positive and a safe space for them. Each student has individual learning styles, levels of understanding, and requirements to help them overcome challenges. My students are grateful, kind, and appreciate everything they work so hard to gain.

My Project

I teach Special Education and the students need books and supplies to work on the skills and levels to close the gap in their learning. We use the whiteboards and markers for math and phonics. The books will be used for basic reading skills as well as writing basics. For writing, we read short stories or articles and learn the process of outline, draft paper, and final paper. These supplies will be used for all students in the special education classroom. At this time I have about 30 students with 7 students in testing.
