Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic, eager to learn, and hard working. They are attending a pre-kinder to fifth grade Title 1 school in Los Angeles. Our school strives to nurture our students into becoming Thinkers, Leaders, and Change Makers.

My students come from low income homes where their two parents have to work to meet their needs.

Some of my students have to stay in school until six in the evening because their parents cannot come for them until they are out of work. Nonetheless, my students are ready learn and strive to do their best every day.

My Project

My students are going to be working on a project based game that involves their knowledge of Financial Literacy. They will use the Allowance game as a model for a game board they can develop based on their knowledge of earning, spending, and saving money. They will use the laminating film and laminating machine in order to make their game more durable.

They will develop their knowledge of money using the Magnetic Money, Quick Pick, and Allowance games.

They will use them at a learning center in small groups to learn how to count, save and interact with money. The electric stapler and electric sharpener will allow them to access the tools they need during independent center time.

The partitions will be used during assessments to insure the students maximize their think time and stay focused on their work.
