I teach second grade at an amazing school. We have 43% of our students receiving free/reduce lunches and we have a variety of languages spoken at our school. The students work very hard for me and I am thankful for their determination to find answers. I want to provide them with the tools to make them successful each day. However, with our budget, it gets very difficult.
One item that would have indescribable impact, believe it or not, is a heavy duty pencil sharpener for my classroom. Why this might not seem important. It is one of the MOST important items in my classroom that I'm lacking. It is used everyday and all day! It is VERY important that the children are able to write properly and a dull pencil slows them down and frustrates them, at times, beyond their limits.
I have been going through basic pencil sharpeners, using the old fashioned sharpeners, and I even got one from a school that was closed, but they are not getting the job done correctly. They are breaking down. The pencils are being sharpened awkwardly and it is now affecting the students' work.
This is where I need your help. I am asking for a industrial strength pencil sharpener. It would make everyone day easier, happier, and more productive. We all would be extremely grateful and we hope you are able to help us. Many thanks for your consideration!
