We Need The Write Stuff!

My Students

Our 130 energetic, hands-on, lovers of learning are lucky enough to be the second group of first graders to enter our beautiful school. Together we are creating a new community from the ground up, and we are ecstatic to infuse that community with a love for writing.

Our new group of authors and illustrators are as diverse as they come and even more eager to grow!

We have students that do not know their letters and sounds, yet, and students that are well on their way to creating their own little novels. Each of these students needs access to materials that will help them grow at their own pace.

They love having safe spaces in the classroom where they can explore their abilities and push beyond their boundaries in order to see what they are capable of accomplishing. I love watching the look in their eyes when they realize they have done something amazing. First graders definitely have the "write" stuff!

My Project

The writing center in the corner of our classroom is eagerly awaiting some fresh and engaging writing materials. My little 1st graders are learning to love writing, a task that at this point in their education can seem daunting. They have to work hard to formulate ideas, stretch words out to spell, focus on forming letters, and think about conventions. My hope is to ease the complexity of these tasks by providing my students with materials that make the process fun!

I want my students to believe that they are real life authors and illustrators, and these supplies will help them do just that!.

My students will love using the magnets, stamps, ink pads, and play doh stampers to practice stretching their words out in preparation for writing them in their stories. They will use the pencils and pens to put their words onto paper, and the crayons and markers to illustrate all of their ideas. With your support, my students will have the opportunity to explore their inner authors and illustrators in a fun and safe environment.
