Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom welcomes 180 bright and energetic 7th graders. The students love being able to interact with science and respond best when our lessons are hands-on and connect to their interests. My students all have their own unique stories and experiences; some come from other countries while others have lived in the community their entire lives. They all share one thing, they want to do activities that are hands-on and engaging.
Knowing that my students want to learn in an engaging manner I strive to create experiences that will grab their focus along with helping them to develop into informed critical thinkers that will shape our society in the future.
The ideas that they create in class are incredible and often out of the box, I want us to be able to continue thinking and learning like this. I have great students who deserve the best for their education and future!
My Project
This project will allow students to learn to use technology in an appropriate and challenging manner to increase their learning. Students will be able to use the tablets for a variety of applications such as using Google Apps for Education in order to create presentations, write lab reports, and check their Google Classroom assignments daily in order to participate in online discussions.
My students love technology and this project will help us to be able to put more T into our STEM projects.
This technology will enhance our learning as students will be able to use it to research our current topic, review utilizing apps such as Kahoot, Quizizz, or Khan Academy, and utilize it in creating digital files reflecting their knowledge. The Fire TV and Echo speaker will allow the students to be able to project their digital creations to the class in order to instruct their peers. The Echo can also be used for students to ask questions during research, as a way to fact check one another, and to help with translation for ESL students. The Fire TV will be used to show students quick youtube videos in addition to being used for projection purposes.
