We Need the T for Technology. STEM Integration

My students need updated technology to expand their 21st century skills. I am requesting five iPads with cases to help us in our pursuit of personalized, purposeful, and authentic learning.

My Students

"We are here to make mistakes and re-design" are words echoed through our school's intercom everyday. It's fitting as we are a STEM school! My students live by our school motto in everything that they do. Whether it's math, science, reading, engineering, etc. Although our school did not flood, some of our families were directly impacted by hurricane Harvey. As we returned after Harvey, we all were ready to get back to normalcy. As we say here in Texas: We are TEXAS strong!

The true strength of our classroom lies in the collaboration of learners.

My students work together by analyzing science data, constructing models in the Engineering Lab, collaborating ideas in math class, --these are just a few! They are learners that are eager for the next challenge.

My Project

Having the set of iPads will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. One way we will implement them is during station work. I post videos and voice clips so students can perform error analysis on their work. Having this technology will give them the tools they need.

We will utilize the iPads in all subject areas, and they will be crucial during our Genius Hour Project.

Genius Hour “…is student-driven, passion-based inquiry at its best which can be enhanced by technology in the hand of modern learners” (Speranza, 2015).

Another way they will be used is during science and engineering Labs. We can track data, video record our findings, and create presentations to showcase our learning.
