We Need the Basics!

Help me give my students supplies that they need to do their work at home. Unfortunately, I am finding many of them do not have the basics to help them learn.

My Students

Our school family was separated last March without warning with the closing down of our school in Queens, New York. Over the past 9 months, many of our students have families who have experienced loss both financially and with loved ones. This is in addition to already being in economic distress with many being in temporary housing. Now that we have returned to the 20-21 school year and my class is completely remote, it is important for my students to have the supplies they need at home. They are smart, capable, deserving of opportunity and want to learn.

My Project

My students are working remotely and I have been seeing some are not doing work in a notebook but on random paper. After inquiring, I found out some do not have the basics of what they need and deserve to learn. I told all the students and families that if they need anything to let me know privately. After being contacted by families, I realized that this issue will be part of our remote learning throughout the school year. I want to have supplies to help these hard-working, kind-hearted, deserving students to have what they need.
