Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This year I am teaching second grade again! My school is in a low-income urban area serving students from K-5, who are predominantly African American.

Second grade is a year of new beginnings and academic growth for students.

My students are on a variety of levels academically. Having such a wide range of academic levels in one room, we need to use various methods to provide support. We will spend this school year growing as individuals socially, emotionally and academically.

My Project

My school is located in a low economic neighborhood. Most of my students do not come to school prepared with pencils and erasers. Growing up in a similar condition, I understand that sometimes the parents don't have the means to replace supplies are due to other circumstances are not conscious of the need.

Help me supply my students with the necessary tools so they do not devalue education.

The pencils and erasers will be supplied to my students to use to complete their work. I would like to send pencils home so that homework can be completed. We need dry erase markers for in class activities and work.
