Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have a wonderful 4th grade class in Barrio Logan. Nearly half of our school population is homeless and they live in the local shelters. We are a low-income school but we work extra hard with the resources that we do have. We have nearly 500 students in the school and our class sizes are real big. Nonetheless, we continue to strive to be the best we can be and we work so hard to give these children the tools that they will need to be successful.
Fourth grade is a pivotal year in any child's education; therefore the students need and deserve access to proper educational materials in order to be successful individuals.
My Project
We are a school located just south of downtown San Diego and have very unique circumstances. 40 percent of our school is homeless. Almost 25 percent of our school is special education. Though we have tough circumstances and funding is hard to get from our district we plug along. However, my classroom does not have headphones for our co outer programs and for state testing. We would be so appreciative of any and all support you could provide. No donation is too small. Please consider helping my students get the headphones they need to be as successful as possible in our classroom.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
