My Students
The current generation of children are bombarded with engaging and interactive technology everywhere they go. To be able to fully reach the tech savvy kids of the 21st century it is essential that interactive and engaging technology is brought into the classroom. An interactive projector is one way.
My school is a brand new charter school.
The 2014-15 is the first year that it will be open. While it has all the essentials for a school; desks, chairs, whiteboard, etc; there was not enough funding left over this year to purchase projectors for the teachers. While class can absolutely to taught without them, the importance of having a projector in the classroom cannot be understated. The majority of my students have grown up immersed in technology from a young age and to suddenly be thrust in an environment where it is missing is very frustrating for many of them.
My Project
This project will be used in a variety of ways to help students learn. One example is that the lessons that I teach my students will be interactive. For example; when I teach about the cell rather than simply giving my students a diagram on a piece of paper I will be able to present to them a enlarged 3D representation that can be manipulated to demonstrate how the different parts of the cells work as part of a cohesive system. Another example; when we study the solar system and universe I will be able to present to my students a virtual tour to help them understand the scope of the universe, which is very challenging for many of the students to wrap their minds around without some type of interactive model.
The integration of technology in the classroom is one of the most effective engaging strategies that could be used with the particular group of students that I have.
I myself have lived a life fully integrated with technology and I know that having the ability to bring that opportunity to my students would benefit them greatly.
