Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Walking into our school, you will find a diverse group of kids. Many of my students are English language learners, which means they are learning how to read, write, and speak English. Our classroom is in an urban environment, filled with kids from all walks of life. We are a Title I school, and our whole school gets free breakfast and lunch. I have a few students with troubled homes, which makes me work harder to create an environment where every child feels safe and able to learn the skills necessary to be ready for middle school and beyond.

Fourth-grade classrooms require a lot of different supplies to help students be successful learners.

This is why I am asking for a variety of teaching supplies.

Organization is something that fourth graders struggle within a classroom.

This is why I am asking for book bins. I want to teach my students how to keep our classroom library organized so they can find what they need.

I am also asking for butterfly larvae. I have decorated my room in butterflies to help students feel like it is a warm and welcoming space. Feeling comfortable in a classroom increases engagement. Because of our classroom theme, my students have become very interested in learning about butterflies. I want to give them larvae so they can see the lifecycle of a butterfly first hand.

Finally, my students struggle with focus in class. I want to give them these stress reliever toys for Christmas so they can use them to increate their ability to concentrate on lessons.
