My Students
Have you ever sat outside reading a good book but became distracted by everything around you? Perhaps you then decided that you needed to read in a place with less visual distractions. Well, that's how it is with students with autism. However, they cannot leave their classroom to get away.
My students have autism.
Each student is very unique and has his own special skill. Our school serves students whose families have limited incomes. However, many families are working very hard along with the teachers to help their child get the best education they can.
My students have special needs, therefore we need special materials to meet their needs.
My Project
Students with autism need to learn in a structured environment. They also need less distractions in order for them to learn and retain information.
Classroom dividers will help me structure the classroom into different areas. The dividers will also block out visual distractions. Students will also have individualized learning goals. Therefore, the students have individualized worksheets and work tasks
We are teaching our students now to work independently, another factor of a structured teaching classroom. My students need boxes to hold their work tasks. The boxes will be labeled, the students will retrieve their work from the box and begin working independently. The students also need boxes to place the finished product in. Students must work from left to right in a structured teaching classroom.
Donations to receive these materials will help my students focus and become independent.
Students with autism need structure in order to reach their fullest potential. Structure begins in the classroom. Students with autism must learn how to distinguish physical boundaries. Many students with autism are easily distracted. Therefore it is extremely necessary to block visual distractions when teaching students one on one or in small groups.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
