My students need these desks desperately because we have all mixed match furniture that doesn't even fit in the classroom. These desks would provide much more function because they are compact and give us more space!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My name is Nelly Reyes and I am a kindergarten teacher to lovable little ones! How can we close the achievement gap when children don't have the correct materials they need to learn? This school is an inner-city school with much diversity. Our school district is a district where the poverty level is high and lack a budget to cover all costs of necessary supplies needed for the classroom. Our class is filled with children that come from all different family dynamics and are very eager to learn. This class is a large class of kindergarten students in a fairly small classroom, so supplies are needed to help us save space.
These children are eager and willing to learn new things every day but unfortunately, due to a budget cut, we are not always able to provide these students with things they need to have a more smoothly run classroom!
New desks for these children would make the world of difference in such a small classroom!
My Project
These desks would provide much more space in the classroom which would make a tremendous difference in a kindergarten classroom. Space is so important because with the extra space provided by more functional seating will leave us more options for fun activities that we can not currently do because we do not have the space! These desks would make literacy and math centers much more functional which will make learning so much easier for my students! Also, the way the classroom looks sets a certain tone, having these new desks would make our classroom look much better too because the room will look bigger!
